Jubril Gawat, the Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, shared updates on the inspection through his social media handle. He reported that Governor Sanwo-Olu was actively engaged in assessing the progress of the cleanup at the Obalende Under-bridge, conducted by the Ministry of Environment and the Special Taskforce.

Gawat shared, "Governor of Lagos State, Mr #jidesanwoolu, today at the Obalende Under-bridge, which is undergoing extensive cleanup by the Ministry of Environment and the Special Taskforce. "Mr Governor is on an inspection to the site, to see the level of work done."

The inspection also extended to the Ijora Under-bridge, where Governor Sanwo-Olu addressed the occupants and emphasized the government's commitment to creating various recreational activities under the bridge. He asserted that the authorities would no longer permit individuals to sleep or live under the bridges.

Accompanying the governor on the inspection were officials such as Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab; Commissioner for Transportation, Seun Osiyemi; and other stakeholders, as stated by Chief Press Secretary Gboyega Akosile.

The Lagos State Government had initiated the cleanup of shanties beneath the Obalende Bridge, with plans to transform the area. Additionally, after a five-day quit notice, illegal shanties under the Ijora Bridge were cleared, and the government announced intentions to convert the space into a recreational area.
