The Yobe State Police Command Force has apprehended a 43-year-old suspect, Abubakar Musa, in connection with the tragic murder of his wife, Ammi Mamman, in Damaturu.
The spokesperson for the Command, Dungus Abdulkarim, revealed in a statement that the incident unfolded at New Bra-Bra Estate around 4:48 am on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Abdulkarim explained that the suspect and his wife were in the same bed when the unfortunate event occurred – she was stabbed with an object on her neck, resulting in severe bleeding that ultimately led to her untimely demise.
As the investigation unfolds, Abdulkarim shared that the suspect is currently undergoing interrogation by police detectives, with the aim of unraveling the circumstances surrounding the tragic death. The matter was reported to the C Divisional Police Headquarters, Damaturu, and is actively being probed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the homicide unit of the command.
Meanwhile, an anonymous resident from the area shed light on the aftermath of the incident. According to the resident, the suspect, immediately after committing the crime, sought assistance from his neighbor. "After he committed the crime, he rushed to tell his neighbor that his wife was bleeding. So, they got an ambulance and conveyed her to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead," the resident disclosed. The unfolding details paint a somber picture of the events surrounding this tragic incident in Damaturu.
