Members of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Services (NHFSS) in Abia State have apprehended suspects involved in the vandalization of oil pipeline installations in Ogbodinibe, Umuahia South LGA.

The suspects, identified as 34-year-old Chukwunyere Onwuka and 26-year-old Chinatu Israel, were arrested around 2 pm on Sunday. Mmerube Sunday Chukwudiegwu, the Abia State Commander of NHFSS, informed ABN TV that the arrests were made possible through credible information received by the command.

While these arrests mark a positive step, four other suspects managed to escape, including an unidentified individual believed to be purchasing the vandalized items. During the operation, officers recovered exhibits, including approximately N180,000.

The arrested suspects have been transferred to the Ubakala Division for further investigation and prosecution. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the NHFSS to combat pipeline vandalism and secure vital infrastructure in the region.
