Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, has encouraged Nigerian students planning to study abroad to pursue opportunities that align with their goals.

Obi made this statement while donating a total of N60 million to two higher institutions in Anambra State.

During the event, Obi contributed N50 million to Peter University in Achina/Onneh and N10 million to the School of Nursing Sciences in Adazi-Nnukwu. He emphasized his commitment to supporting institutions that foster skill development, professionalism, and strong character.

Addressing students at the College of Nursing Sciences, Obi shared his belief in the importance of public trust and integrity in leadership. He urged students to take advantage of international opportunities if they find it challenging to thrive in Nigeria.

“I have always told the Nursing Council not to restrict graduates from seeking opportunities abroad. If Nigeria doesn't offer the environment you need, go where you can achieve your dreams. I’m confident that as Nigeria improves, many will return to contribute to its growth,” Obi remarked.

He also shared a personal story about his former personal assistant, Michael Jude, who moved to the UK and found success, reinforcing his message that seeking opportunities abroad is acceptable.

At Peter University, Obi encouraged students to prioritize their education, describing it as the transformative force behind societal progress. “Education is the key to national development. Invest in your future, and always strive for excellence,” he said.

Obi’s donation and messages highlight his ongoing commitment to empowering Nigeria’s youth, urging them to pursue both education and opportunities that lead to success while encouraging them to return home and help shape a better future for the nation.
