In a poignant tribute, the Governor of Ondo State, Hon.
Lucky Aiyedatiwa, expressed on Thursday that the legacy of the late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu will forever endure, as evidenced by the indelible impact he made across the State and the nation.
Governor Aiyedatiwa conveyed this sentiment during a condolence visit to the residence of the former Ondo State Governor in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. Leading members of the State Executive Council, the Governor extended heartfelt sympathies to the Akeredolu Family.
The late Governor, according to Aiyedatiwa, was a man of sincerity, courage, selflessness, and patriotism. He passionately advocated for his people, spearheaded developmental initiatives, and positively influenced numerous lives. In an emotionally charged tribute, Aiyedatiwa further described the former Governor as a caring and compassionate husband, father, and grandfather, expressing deep gratitude for the rare privilege of having served under his guidance.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the profound loss experienced by Ondo State, the Southwest region, and Nigeria as a whole due to the passing of Akeredolu. He underscored the enduring impact of Akeredolu's pursuit of a peaceful, fair, and just society, asserting that such a commitment will be eternally remembered.
The Governor highlighted the lasting imprint of Late Akeredolu's contributions to Ondo State's socio-economic and infrastructural development, the growth of the Anglican Church, and the reforms within the legal profession in Nigeria.
Aiyedatiwa recognized that Akeredolu had fulfilled his earthly mission, leaving behind a legacy that his remarkable children are well-equipped to uphold. Speaking on behalf of the Akeredolu Family, Pastor Kola Akeredolu, the younger brother of the deceased, expressed gratitude to the delegation led by Governor Aiyedatiwa for their considerate visit.
The solemn occasion also saw prayers offered for the Akeredolu Family, with Governor Aiyedatiwa leading the delegation in signing the condolence register as a mark of respect and solidarity during this challenging time.
