Yemi Osibanjo has commiserated with the family of the nine drowned corps members, the NYSC and the Taraba state government over the irreparable loss of nine corps members in Taraba state last weekend.

The Acting President sent his commiseration and expressed how painful it is for the country to lose nine agile youth that are presently serving their father's land, the Vice President prayed that the concerned families have the fortitude to bear this great loss. However, the Osibanjo affrims that the Federal government will always ensure that the safety of the corps members are always guaranteed.

It will be recalled that, last weekend nine out of twenty two corps members were drowned in Mayo-Selbe in Gashakin local government area of Taraba state, it was reported that the corps members went for a picnic at the river side but when they were swimming in the river, there was a sudden upsurge in the volume of the water which carried them away and only thirteen corps members were able to escape.

The policemen attached to the area have said seven bodies out of nine have been recovered and efforts are being made relentlessly to recover the remaining two bodies.

Also, the authority of the National Youth Service Corps( NYSC) has declared seven days mourning for this great loss. The Taraba state government has also sympathized with the family of the corps members and NYSC and promised to ensure the safety of corps members deployed to the state.
