The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a group of suspected ritualists accused of engaging in the gruesome practice of killing individuals and trafficking their body parts for sale across different states.

Among the suspects are a woman identified as an Osun priestess, a local community chief, an Ifa priest, an Islamic cleric, and a traditional medicine practitioner.

Confirming the arrest on Friday, Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the command, disclosed that the suspects, operating within a particular division of Lagos, were captured following intelligence reports provided by concerned members of the public.

Hundeyin revealed that the gang's leader, a 33-year-old man named Ademola Akinlosotu, initially confessed to exhume corpses from cemeteries, selling their parts to ritualists. However, he later escalated to actively killing individuals and supplying human parts upon demand.

Explaining his transition, Akinlosotu admitted that the shift occurred due to customer demand for fresh body parts rather than those obtained from corpses.

In a chilling revelation, Akinlosotu disclosed that he, along with other gang members, executed the killings, with the harvested parts supplied to a 52-year-old man identified as Ahmed Wahab, also known as Alfa Bororo. Wahab operated across Badagry in Lagos State and Ogun State, catering to a network of clients.

The suspect further disclosed the pricing of the illicit trade, stating that a fresh human head fetched between N45,000 and N50,000, while a dried one commanded N30,000 to N35,000. Other body parts, such as the heart and hands, were priced at N70,000 and N50,000, respectively.

Akinlosotu also confessed to being involved in the killing of two individuals, including a friend he met through social media, prior to his arrest. He revealed that before each operation, the gang would consult with a herbalist to seek guidance from an oracle, determining the success and potential repercussions of the killings.
