Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, has disclosed why he switched from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) (NNPP).

Kankwaso, a presidential candidate in the 2019 elections, officially abandoned the PDP on Wednesday, according to NAIJACRAWL.

The former governor, who obtained his NNPP membership card from his Abuja ward chairman, urged other well-meaning Nigerians to join his new party in order to bring about the transformation that the country so desperately needs.

Speaking while receiving his new party's membership card, Kwankaso blamed his actions on the main opposition party's crisis.

"In April of last year, we had a circumstance where zonal posts were shared among the states, and all leaders in the six other states were given the option to nominate," he explained. But in Kano, some people thought I wasn't important enough, so they had no choice but to do what they did. That's what sparked the issue (defection), and I've been waiting for about a year for the PDP, even the new leadership, to come and talk to me; they didn't want to. "

He felt there were insurmountable conflicts between him and many other party officials, according to him.
