The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to a robbery near Egba/Odeda High School in the Odeda local government area of the state.
The suspects, identified as 23-year-old Femi Adesina from Lagos State, 19-year-old Lawal Olasunkanmi from Lagos State, and 28-year-old Shola Sunkanmi from Ibadan, Oyo State, were apprehended while attempting to flee the scene.
How the Robbery Happened
According to the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the suspects, along with three others still at large, targeted 21-year-old Akanji Lekan on Sunday evening.
The victim reported that he was walking through the area when six men on two Bajaj Boxer motorcycles intercepted him. They forcibly snatched his bag, which contained an iPhone 15 Pro Max worth N2,200,000 and a Samsung X9 valued at N220,000.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest
Upon receiving the distress report, officers from the Odeda Police Division quickly mobilized. With the help of members of the public, three of the suspects were apprehended along Osiele Road as they tried to escape on a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (Reg. No. KSF 213 QN).
During interrogation, the arrested suspects confessed to the crime and revealed that they had already handed over the stolen phones to their accomplices—identified only as Noah, Opeyemi, and Ibrahim—who managed to escape.
Police Intensify Search for Fleeing Accomplices
The police have taken the recovered motorcycle into custody as evidence and are actively working to track down the remaining suspects.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid carrying expensive valuables, especially in isolated areas.
This latest crackdown highlights the police’s commitment to curbing crime and ensuring the safety of citizens across the state.
