According to the UK Sun, Manchester United players returned from Moldova with food poisoning after playing FC Sheriff in the Europa League last Thursday.
On their first visit to the Eastern European nation, United came away with a 2-0 victory.
Erik ten Hag's team overcame their competition loss to Real Sociedad thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo in the first half.
It has since come to light, though, that at least 12 members of the squad started to feel unwell when they got back on Friday morning.
United flew back to the UK on a private jet after the game, but still picked up an unknown illness, which is believed to have come from something they ate, or from the plane itself.
A few players missed the scheduled recovery training session on Friday at Carrington, while some were still too unwell to turn up the following day.
Thankfully for Ten Hag, he did not have to prepare the team for the home match against Leeds United, which was originally scheduled to take place on Sunday.
The game was postponed due to a lack of available police ahead of the Queen’s state funeral on Monday at Westminster Abbey.
