Sierra Leone head coach, John Keister, has named his squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures against Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau.

The Leone Stars will confront the Super Eagles at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, on Thursday, June 9.

The West Africans will host the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau four days later at the General Lansana Conte Stadium.

Keister kept faith with the majority of the players that featured at AFCON 2021 in Cameroon.

Talismanic striker Kei Kamara announced his retirement from international football last month, so he was not included in the squad.

The newly appointed skipper of the side, Steven Caulker, China-based striker, Mohamed Buya Turay, Queen Park Rangers defender, Osman Kakay, and Augustus Kargbo, who plays for Serie B club Crotone, were some of the notable players who made the list.

Others are: defensive midfielder John Kamara of Politenica-lasi, Sirius left-back Kevin Wrights and Mustapha Bandu.

The quintet of Ibrahim Sillah, Kallum Cesay, Amadou Bakayoko, Kamil Conteh, and Jonathan Morsay were called up for the first time.

Umaru Bangura was left out of the squad, along with Charleston Battery’s striker Augustine Williams, Issa Kallon, and Randers striker Alhaji Kamara.

The Leone Stars held the Super Eagles to a 4-4 draw the last time both teams met at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, on November 13, 2020.
