European club, Troyes, have celebrated Guinea-Bissau forward Mama Balde following his goal for his country against Nigeria in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Friday.

Balde, who currently plays his club football for Troyes, scored the only goal of the match as Guinea-Bissau beat Nigeria 1-0 on Friday evening at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.

He scored for Guinea-Bissau in the 29th minute of the game to ensure his team moved top of Group A with 7 points after three games.

Reacting, Troyes took to Twitter to congratulate Balde after the match.

Troyes tweeted: “Mama Balde holder and victorious with the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau. Facing Nigeria, our striker offered victory to his team thanks to an achievement in the 29th minute of play (0-1)!”

Balde will now hope to lead Guinea-Bissau again to victory when they host the Super Eagles in the return leg on Monday.
