The club has confirmed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will take the number 9 shirt at Chelsea.
The Gabon striker, who joined the Blues on deadline day from Barcelona, takes the number that was vacated by Romelu Lukaku earlier this summer, following his loan move to Inter Milan.
Aubameyang wore the number 17 shirt at Barcelona this season, like he did in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund.
During his time in the Premier League with Arsenal, the 33-year-old wore the number 14 shirt.
Aubameyang wore the number nine at Saint Etienne and Dijon in France.
Last month, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel claimed “nobody wants to touch” the club’s No. 9 shirt amid fears it may be cursed.
Gonzalo Higuain, Alvaro Morata, Radamel Falcao, and Fernando Torres all arrived at Stamford Bridge and struggled to meet expectations after inheriting the shirt.
