Super Eagles forward, Taiwo Awoniyi was named man of the match following Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 win against Southampton at the St.



Mary’s Stadium on Wednesday night.

It was the second time Awoniyi will be picking up the award after he was adjudged the best player in Forest’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea on New Year’s Day.

The Nigerian international scored the winning goal for Steve Cooper’s side, who recorded their first away win of the season.

The 25-year-old won 45% of the votes, with Brennan Johnson (22%), Renan Lodi (21%), and Joe Worrall (12%) finishing in second, third, and fourth place, respectively.

All four of Nottingham Forest’s Premier League wins so far this season have been 1-0, with Awoniyi netting the winner in three of those.

Awoniyi has so far scored four goals in 16 league appearances for Nottingham Forest this season.
