The captain of Real Madrid, Karim Benzema, has received the support of Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe to win the 2022 Ballon d'Or.
After helping Real Madrid win the Champions League this year, Mbappe feels that Benzema should be awarded the Ballon d'Or.
The 34-year-old Benzema has become a Real Madrid legend over the years.
Among the 30 men nominated for the Ballon d'Or this year, who were announced on Friday, Benzema and Mbappe made the shortlist.
Speaking to L’Equipe, with Mundo Deportivo carrying his quotes, Mbappe did say he hoped to win one at PSG, though.
Real are a Ballon d’Or machine, you have to admit that. There is true know-how, but the most important thing is on the field of play. It is not your club which achieves your Ballon d’Or, it is you. I continue to be convinced that one day I will be able to win it in Paris.
“He [Benzema] is 34 years old, he has just had the season of his life, winning another Champions League, being decisive many times," "If I was Karim and I did not win, I would stop thinking about the Ballon d’Or forever,” he said.
