After losing to Colombia in a penalty shootout 6-5 in the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup semifinals in India, Nigeria's Flamingos were unable to advance to the championship game.

After 90 minutes of play, the score remained 0-0.

Nigeria will play in the biennial competition's semifinal match for the first time.

Six minutes into the game, Emmanuel Blessing came inches away from giving Nigeria the opening goal.

Shakirat Oyinlola came close to breaking the score in the 26th minute as the Flamingos continued to apply pressure.

Goalkeeper Faith Omilana made a few key stops for the Colombians as they turned up the pressure later.

Towards the end of the first half, the South Americans had a goal disallowed for offside.

After the break, Bankole Olowookere, the head coach of the Flamingos, switched Fatimo Adeshina for Opeyemi Ajakaye.

The Nigerian girls came under repeated pressure in the second half but Omilana was at her best thwarting the Colombians.

Omilana was replaced by second-choice goalkeeper Linda Jiwuaku at 90 minutes.

The game went straight into penalties after both teams failed to score in regulation time.

The Flamingos scored five penalty kicks, while the Colombians netted six.
