Early on, the Super Eagles seized control of the game, securing the lead with a goal from Cyril Dessers, who calmly converted a penalty in the 38th minute.

Despite numerous opportunities, Nigeria, led by coach Finidi George, couldn't capitalize further, as both Dessers and Kelechi Iheanacho missed chances.

However, the second half saw a breakthrough when Alex Iwobi set up Ademola Lookman, who confidently netted the second goal.
