Anthony Martial has opened up about his relationship with star midfielder Bruno Fernandes at Manchester United.
According to Martial, Fernandes has promised him a number of assists in the second half of the season.
The 23-year-old, who missed the World Cup due to an injury, will be a regular for the Red Devils this season following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Old Trafford.
The France international has scored four times and laid out two assists for Manchester United this season.
Fernandes, for his part, registered three goals and three assists in 21 overall games for the Red Devils this term.
Speaking to MUTV, Martial claimed that he had a prior discussion with Fernandes regarding their link-up play together. He said: “We always had that connection between us, and we both just have to keep working to improve it."
Martial said he told the Portugal midfielder to ensure he returned to the club in perfect condition before his trip to Qatar.
“And he would say, of course, lots of assists are coming your way. ”
Anthony Martial hopes to be in Erik ten Hag’s squad for their Premier League game against Nottingham on Tuesday.
The Red Devils stars returned to action last week with a 2-0 win over Burnley in the Carabao Cup after the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
