Chelsea midfielders Jorginho and N'Golo Kante have been advised not to leave the club by Thomas Tuchel.

He stated that the Blues must ensure that both players' contracts are renewed in order to prevent losing them to a free agent next year.

Tuchel wants to avoid a situation similar to that of his two top defenders, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, who are due to depart the club for free in the summer.

In an interview with the press ahead of Chelsea's match against Southampton on Saturday, the German coach stated that he wants to avoid Jorginho and Kante suffering the same fate.

"Absolutely no one wants their contracts to expire." As a coach, I'd like to settle things in the summer anyway, especially with crucial players.
"That the route is clear, and the decision is clear." Otherwise, we have the same conversations about Antonio and Andreas; we just switch names, and we speak about it all winter. Then there's January, when agents talk to clubs and brothers chat with one another — it'd be good if we could prevent it. However, it is now challenging. Yes, this should be our collective goal. "

Chelsea were defeated 3-1 by Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, following a humiliating Premier League loss to Burnley the weekend before.

The Blues, on the other hand, bounced back at the weekend, inflicting Southampton with their season's biggest defeat.
