Before the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Brian Dunseth, a former member of the USMNT and MLS, has issued a warning that the US cannot rely on captain Christian Pulisic.
After failing to score in both of its international friendlies this month, the USMNT struggled in its final World Cup preparations in November.
They played Saudi Arabia to a scoreless draw and fell to Japan 2-0.
The team's "Captain America," however, has been hailed as Pulisic, and supporters will be hoping he can inspire the US in Qatar. However, Dunseth asserted that the Chelsea winger has been overrated.
“You can’t trust Pulisic,” Dunseth said on his weekly podcast.
“As much as you want to believe in Pulisic, as much as he has been hyped to be everything that everybody thinks he can be or wants him to be, the reality is he is not."
“He is a really good player, but he’s a complementary piece. He is not a focal point, and that’s what people have to understand.
Pulisic has failed to score a goal since a hat-trick against Panama in a 5-1 CONCACAF World Cup qualification game in March.
