Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has named Marcel Sabitzer as the best player on the pitch during the Red Devils’ UEFA Europa League quarterfinal first-leg 2-2 draw against Sevilla on Thursday.
Schmeichel said that Manchester United’s teammates let Sabitzer down during the encounter against Sevilla at Old Trafford.
Sabitzer scored a first-half brace as Manchester United drew with the La Liga side in the Europa League clash.
His good work, though, was negated to a large extent by his teammates towards the end of the game, as two own goals from Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire in the final six minutes of regulation meant Sevilla walked away with a draw ahead of the return leg in Spain.
“The best player is the guy [Sabitzer] who scored two goals; Marcel Sabitzer was really good,” Schmeichel via the BBC (h/t Mirror).
“His teammates have let him down." He showed them the way, and they did not catch on to it.”
