Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Portugal, has been cited as the greatest player in history by former Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil.

At Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, Ozil played alongside Ronaldo for three seasons. Ozil recently announced his retirement from the game.

The pair scored an impressive 39 goals in their 149 games together for Real Madrid.

Speaking with MARCA, Ozil said: “It was a lot of fun playing with Cristiano Ronaldo, who, for me, is the best player of all time."

“We both understood each other very well on the pitch; it was perfect.

“I assisted and he scored. "Giving passes to a player who almost never missed was a gift.”
