Chelsea’s interim manager, Frank Lampard, has said his return to the club was inevitable.
Lampard played 648 times for the Blues, scoring 211 goals to become their top scorer.
The 45-year-old then managed the team for 18 months before he was fired in January 2021 by Roman Abramovich.
However, the club’s new co-owner, Todd Boehly, has brought back the former midfielder after Graham Potter was sacked on Sunday.
“I didn’t think I’d ever be in this seat." I’m a confident person, I work hard, and I understand the game. It wasn’t my thought that I’d one day be back as Chelsea manager.
“In terms of unfinished business, I don’t see it like that. I look back on it with really good feelings.
“I’m here in a different era and want to do as well as I can,” Lampard told the media on Thursday.
