Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has hailed Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech, saying he is loving the player’s performance at the World Cup in Qatar.
Ziyech is arguably Chelsea’s best-performing player at the 2022 World Cup and has helped his country become the first African nation to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
The winger is flourishing at the Mundial despite his struggles at Chelsea after Morocco changed their manager just before the tournament.
The former Ajax star will now be focusing on helping the North Africans beat France in the semi-finals on Wednesday night and qualify for the final.
Wright said he "loved" watching Ziyech flourish, noting that the winger plays with a "different energy" for his country than he does for Chelsea.
“I’m loving Hakim Ziyech at this World Cup; I’m loving him,” he said on the Wrighty’s House podcast.
“I love the way he’s playing."
“He plays with a different energy when he plays for his country." "I watch him at Chelsea, and I’m not being negative, but the difference is that this man needs it when he’s playing for Morocco.”
