Ian Rush, a Liverpool icon, has slammed Cristiano Ronaldo, expressing his disappointment with the Manchester United player following his incident with an Everton fan at Goodison Park a few days ago.
Paul Pogba is also expected to leave Manchester United at the conclusion of the season, according to Rush.
Remember that Merseyside Police are investigating Ronaldo for an alleged assault after the five-time Ballon d'Or winner appeared to break a fan's phone during Man United's 1-0 defeat to Everton last Saturday.
“I love Cristiano Ronaldo – he is a great professional and one of the best players there’s ever been – so it was disappointing to see him take out his frustration on a young Everton fan at the weekend,’ Rush was quoted by Gambling as saying.
“He was clearly frustrated by a number of things – United had just lost and he looked to have picked up a knock too – but that is no excuse for an idol to react in the way he did.”
“I’m sure he regrets what he did.”
Speaking of Pogba, Rush added, “It wouldn’t surprise me if one or two players left Manchester United in the summer.
“Paul Pogba is the obvious one, his contract is up and it looks as though he will be courted by both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
“A new manager might persuade him to stay if he’s appointed in time, but at the moment I reckon he will go to Madrid.”
