The existence of fellow countryman Aurélien Tchouaméni, claims El Nacional, is to blame for this.

At the conclusion of the current campaign, Kanté's contract will expire.

The France midfielder's contract with Chelsea is not likely to be extended, and a few teams are reportedly interested in signing him for nothing.

He doesn't believe Real Madrid is a realistic option, though, because of Tchouaméni's outstanding performance.

Kanté doesn't want to sit on the sidelines and would rather join a team where he is assured of making the first team because his fellow countrymen are expected to start while playing in a position similar to his.
