Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has acknowledged that the match against Liverpool on Sunday will be "a tough game.

"

The Spaniard cautioned, however, not to "expect anything else special" from commentators and supporters.

City and Liverpool have competed for the championship for the past five years.

However, Jurgen Klopp's team is already 14 points behind Arsenal, who are currently leading the league, due to a poor start to the season.

However, Guardiola is not looking at their league position as he takes his side to Anfield.

It is always difficult going to Liverpool. A tough game. Don’t expect anything else special.

It’s important we qualified for the last-16 for ten years in a row. The Liverpool game will be dictated by what’s on the pitch, not by whether we’re in front or they’re behind.

“Nothing changes for the situation of Liverpool being [where they are in the table],” Guardiola told the media on Friday.
