As part of their effort to sign the Ajax attacker before the transfer window closes, Manchester United is reportedly prepared to make Antony a new offer in the neighborhood of £80 million.
The 22-year-old forward was not chosen for Ajax's Eredivisie match against Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday, according to the Dutch club's head coach, Alfred Schreuder, who acknowledged that the forward was not mentally prepared to play.
The squad does not include Anthony. When I spoke with Antony, he admitted that he wasn't entirely prepared to play. According to Schreuder, I only want players on the team who are completely committed to Ajax.
The Brazilian international is off to a strong start for his Dutch club in 2022–23, tallying two goals and two assists in three appearances, including one goal and two assists in two league games.
To force a transfer to Old Trafford before the transfer deadline, the attacker did not train with his teammates toward the end of last week.
Last week, Manchester United are thought to have had an offer, in the region of £68m, turned down by the Eredivisie champions, who are fighting to keep hold of the former Sao Paulo youngster.
However, according to the Daily Mail, the 20-time English champions are preparing a fresh offer of around £80m and are hopeful that it will be enough to convince the Amsterdam giants to sell.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that personal terms have already been agreed between Manchester United and Antony, and the player is determined to move to Old Trafford.
