Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has instructed the team to bring in 24-year-old midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad during the summer transfer window.

Due to his desire to finish the current season with Real Sociedad, Zubimendi is open to joining Arsenal at the end of the current campaign after declining a move to the Premier League's top team in January.

Real Sociedad has informed Arsenal that in order for the transfer to take place, Zubimendi's €60 million release clause must be activated.

However, according to the Spanish publication Sport, Arteta has now personally requested that Zubimendi be signed by Arsenal in the summer.

Barcelona, who are also interested in Zubimendi, will have to compete with Arsenal.

This season, Zubimendi has made 26 appearances for Real Sociedad across all competitions.
