Former Chelsea player Tony Cascarino has claimed that N'Golo Kante's career is over.
The France international, according to Cascarino, will never recapture his greatest form and is burnt out.
Since joining Chelsea from Leicester in the summer of 2016, Kante has probably been the Blues' best midfielder.
However, over the last 18 months, the Frenchman has struggled to maintain his condition.
Kante was a shell of himself against Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday, and was replaced at half-time as senior midfielders Tony Kroos, Luka Modric, and Casemiro took over.
I hate to say it, but have we seen the end of N'Golo Kante as the best, or one of the greatest midfielders of the last decade?" Cascarino posed for a picture on talkSPORT.
"I think he's physically exhausted; he appeared to be burned out."
He came up against 37-year-olds in Modric, Kroos, and Casemiro in midweek, and despite not being as mobile as him, I thought he struggled.
"In the last three months, I've been thinking to myself, have we seen the best of N'Golo?" Is he starting to lose steam? I'm hoping I'm mistaken since he's been a fantastic player. "
