Nigeria striker Paul Onuachu has expressed his delight after netting four times in KRC Genk’s 4-1 win against Sporting Charleroi at the Cegeka Arena on Friday night.
Onuachu was the first Genk player to achieve the feat since 2003.
The 27-year-old opened the scoring for the Smurfs from the penalty spot on nine minutes and added the second 10 minutes before halftime.
The forward added two more goals in the second half.
Onuachu has now scored 12 goals in the Belgian Pro League this season.
He scored all the goals in his last seven outings for the club.
“If I could remember, this is the first time I've scored four goals; there’s always a first time for everything,” Onuachu said during the postmatch press conference.
"Of course, I’m very happy to get four goals and three points for the team. "I am very happy that the team played a good game, and I’m happy for my goals.”
Genk now have 43 points from 16 matches, while second-placed Antwerp are on 33 points with a game in hand.
