Following the announcement of this year Ballon d'Or award yesterday, the Nigeria forward, Victor Oshimen has now set new record to become the first Nigeria to be nominated for the prestigious award.

Oshimen and Osisat Oshoala are two Nigerians that made it to the award list in both the male and female categories.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has congratulated Victor Osimhen on his nomination for the 2023 Ballon d’Or.

Osimhen made the list of nominees released on Wednesday night by the organisers.

The Napoli hitman made history as the first Nigerian to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or.

29 other players were on the shortlist.

“@MoSalah, @AndreyOnana, Yassine Bounou, @victorOsimhen9.

“Africa has 4 nominees between the best players in the world in 2023,” CAF wrote on their official X (formerly) handle.

Osimhen contributed 26 goals to Napoli’s title success last season.
