According to ESPN, the Premier League is expected to approve the Todd Boehly-led consortium's takeover of Chelsea.

However, while talks between current owner Roman Abramovich and the UK government continue, a major sticking point remains.

Although the process is still underway, it is expected that the proposal led by Los Angeles Dodgers part-owner Boehly would pass the league's Owners and Directors' Test (OADT) in the coming days.

However, Abramovich and the government must reach a separate deal on what to do with the £2.5 billion asking price.

After being sanctioned by the UK government for alleged ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Abramovich is not allowed to personally benefit from the proceeds of any sale.
