Before their match against Morocco, Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro acknowledged that Fernando Santos, a fellow Portuguese citizen, faces a selection conundrum.
On Saturday, one of the quarterfinal matches at the 2022 FIFA World Cup will pit Portugal against the Atlas Lions of Morocco.
After Goncalo Ramos notched a hat-trick in his team's 6-1 thrashing of Switzerland in the Round of 16, Santos will need to decide who will start at center forward for La Selecao against the North Africans.
The 21-year-old was chosen for the match instead of captain Cristiano Ronaldo, and he demonstrated why by becoming the first player to record three goals in a single Qatar 2022 game.
Peseiro insisted that Peseiro's compatriot must make a difficult choice before the game.
“It is not easy to put Cristiano back on the bench, just as it is not easy to put Gonçalo on the bench now,” Peseiro, who is in Qatar, told Portuguese sports daily A Bola.
Peseiro is expected to be at the Al Thumama Stadium in Doha for the game.
