After mutually agreeing to end his contract with Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo has forfeited an incredible sum of money in wages.
After his explosive interview with Piers Morgan in which he criticized the team and several of its stakeholders, the Portuguese superstar had no way to recover.
Now, Ronaldo is reportedly planning to forego a whopping £16 million in wages that he would have gotten if he had stayed at United until the end of his contract, according to the Daily Mail.
According to the same report, Ronaldo will not be compensated in any way by Manchester United.
Only seven months remained on his contract, but now that it has been terminated, Ronaldo is free to join any other club.
The 37-year-old departs Manchester United having made 346 appearances and scored 145 goals over the course of his two stints with the team.
No love lost
There seems to be no love lost between Ronaldo and Manchester United, as he spoke to the media on Monday, November 21, where he strongly reiterated that he would speak however and whenever he wanted.
Furthermore, the announcement of the termination of his deal at Old Trafford came almost simultaneously with an announcement that he had agreed to a mega deal with a new line of watches that feature his famous goal against Manchester United.
