Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel believes his team might have defeated Manchester United in the Premier League on Thursday night if Timo Werner and Kai Havertz had performed well.

After Cristiano Ronaldo cancelled out Marcos Alonso's opener, the Blues shared the draw with Ralf Rangnick's side at Old Trafford.

The west Londoners, like Liverpool and Arsenal last week, squandered numerous opportunities to put the Red Devils to the sword.

As Havertz and Werner led the line for the Blues, Romelu Lukaku came off the bench, but the two Germans failed to take their chances as David de Gea made a run of stops.

Tuchel was dissatisfied with their performances and demanded more, claiming the players lacked "drive."

He told the press after the game that "we lacked a bit of determination in the box to win the game."

“I think the two [Werner and Havertz] did not reach their peak performance today and if they did, we were now the winners,” the German said, while giving reasons for taking them off in the second half.

“That’s it, but no need to point fingers, we had enough chances to score today,” he said.
