Rivers United and Plateau United will clash in Port Harcourt on Wednesday (today) in a match that could determine the winner of the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League.

Rivers United have a seven-point lead over second-placed Plateau United and a win in the highly anticipated clash billed for the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium will see them establish a 10-point lead, with seven matches remaining before the end of the campaign.

Both teams head into the game in a boisterous mood after recording victories in their matchday 30 fixtures last weekend.

Rivers United defeated Dakkada 3-2 in Uyo, while Plateau United thrashed Rangers 4-0 in Jos.

Hosts Rivers United will be without their top scorer, Ishaq Rafiu, who is away on international duty.

The battle for third position, which guarantees a place in the CAF Confederation Cup, continues with all the contenders: Rangers, Remo Stars, Kwara United, Enyimba, and holders Akwa United facing tricky fixtures.

Third-placed Rangers will host Wikki Tourists at the Akwa Township Stadium, while Remo Stars will travel to Ibadan, where they will do battle with Shooting Stars in the South West derby.

Kwara United will be guests of Lobi Stars at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi. Enyimba will welcome the Sunshine Stars to Aba.

Champions Akwa United, who have had an underwhelming campaign, are at home to MFM.
