After moving to the former European champions from Sky Bet Championship club Middlesbrough, Nigerian-born forward Chuba Akpom has expressed his desire to establish himself at Eredivisie side Ajax Amsterdam.

After his impressive performance for Middlesbrough last season, the 27-year-old was pursued by a number of clubs. He was the top scorer in the Championship with 28 goals.

Akpom, who ultimately signed a five-year contract with Ajax, stated the following on the club's website:

“I want to play and show everyone what I can do. It is a fantastic club with nice, friendly people. I feel very welcome here. My debut was fine. It was nice that I could get a few minutes since I missed the preparation. Unfortunately, we didn’t win, but now we can continue to build.”
