Victor Osimhen has expressed confidence that his compatriot, Taiwo Awoniyi, will justify his big price tag at his new club, Nottingham Forest.

Awoniyi moved to the City Ground on Saturday for a record £17.5m fee.

The 23-year-old scored 20 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions for Union Berlin last season.

Much will be expected from the striker, who was previously on the books of Premier League giants Liverpool.

Osimhen believes Awoniyi has the quality to live up to expectations at his new club.

“I am happy for him,” Osimhen said on Wazobia FM.
When I moved to Napoli, people said a lot of bad things, but it was all wrong.
“Moving to Nottingham Forest shows that he believes in himself." He will still go higher, and make bigger moves.
I believe in Awoniyi completely, and I’m happy for him. "And definitely, he would prove his doubters wrong,” he said.
