Former Liverpool man Danny Murphy has backed Manchester United transfer target Andre Onana to make a ‘massive’ difference to his potential new club.
Man United is set to secure the services of Onana from Inter Milan following the departure of David de Gea.
Onana’s press resistance and calmness on the ball represent key traits Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag wants in a goalkeeper.
Both Ten Hag and Onana worked together during their time at Ajax.
“Yeah massive,” Murphy told talkSPORT when asked if Onana’s arrival would make a big difference to Man United’s style of play.
He added, “I think it is massive in the way that when you watch [Manchester] City, and there is a really good press on them, from a good side, he [Ederson] is so comfortable missing out the first press with a lovely little ping out wide to a full back or a wide man who is dropped, a full back who is pushed on.”
