Manchester United are set to hijack Chelsea's target, Manuel Ugarte.
Man United are looking to jump ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign Ugarte, who currently plays for Sporting, according to A Bola.
The Red Devils are said to be stepping up their efforts to land the midfielder.
Erik ten Hag’s side will have to battle the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool, who have also been linked with a potential move for the 22-year-old.
Chelsea have reportedly been in talks with Sporting in the past few days, with Ugarte having a release clause of around £51.7 million written into his contract.
The new Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has agreed with the club’s co-owner Todd Boehly on three priority transfer signings, including Ugarte, that the Blues must make this summer.
