Argentina captain Lionel Messi has sent a special message to Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero and Villarreal’s Giovani Lo Celso, who missed the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Messi said that the whole Argentina squad in Qatar remembers Aguero and Lo Celso every day.
The Paris Saint-Germain star stated this while speaking to Aguero on his stream.
Recall that Aguero was recently forced to retire from football after being diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia, while Lo Celso suffered an injury during Villareal’s loss to Athletic Bilbao that robbed him of the opportunity to represent his country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
“Thank you for calling us. We love you. You are not here with us, but we are remembering you every day, you and Gio (Lo Celso),” Messi said.
“I want to greet all the people who watched us. Bye.”
Messi and his teammates will take on the Netherlands in their quarterfinal fixture on Friday night.
