The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has declared war on Uruguay after both countries were put in the same group for the 2022 World Cup in Ghana.

Kurt Okraku, the association's president, stated that his country would seek vengeance against Luis Suarez and his country.

In Friday's draw, Ghana and Uruguay were placed in Group H, alongside Portugal and South Korea.

The last time Ghana and Uruguay played in a World Cup match was in the 2010 World Cup quarterfinals in South Africa.

With seconds to go before the final whistle, with the game knotted at 1-1 in extra time, Ghana was granted a penalty after Suarez was sent off for blocking a goal-bound header with his hands.

Asamoah Gyan, the Black Stars' star player, was unable to score the penalty, and Uruguay went on to win in a penalty shootout.

"We believe it will be retaliation time."

Except for Suarez's save, we thought we had a clear lead in that game. It'll be fun to play against them again, especially because we have positive recollections of them [this time].

It's critical that we all clear the air, "Okraku told BBC Sport Africa.
