The Delta State Government has asserted that principals and school heads remain key players in the policy-making process in the education system.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Delta State, Mr. Augustine Oghoro, stated this in Asaba when the Association of Nigerian Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) national body paid him a courtesy visit as part of activities for its national delegates congress in the state.

According to him, the outcome of the congress of the ANCOPSS will assist the respective state governments in the country with feedback to enhance the decision-making process in driving the education sector effectively.

Oghoro said that the state government accepted hosting the ANCOPSS congress in the state, describing members of the ANCOPSS as critical stakeholders in the education system.

“Whatever feedback they furnish the government, it is critical in the policy-making machinery to review, update, reset, and direct, especially when things are not going well”.

Earlier, in his remarks, the National President of ANCOPSS, Mohammed Musa, appreciated the state government for accepting to host the congress despite the financial challenges confronting every state in the country.

He said that they were expecting about 6,000 delegates to attend the congress.

The President of ANCOPSS in the state, Lady Winifred Emeni, and Secretary, Comrade Mofe Otomi, lauded their national president for his support, saying that they were happy to have been received by the ministry.

Also speaking, Comrade Mofe Otomi and the Chairman of NUT in the state, Comrade Titus Okotie, said the Oborevwori-led administration would continue to do more to move the education sector in the state forward.
