The Federal Ministry of Education has announced a six-month suspension for 13 students of Federal Government College (FGC), Enugu, over their involvement in the bullying and assault of an SS1 day student.

This decision comes as part of efforts to ensure the safety of all students and uphold the trust and confidence of parents and stakeholders in the institution's commitment to a secure learning environment.

The Ministry's investigation revealed that the incident, which occurred on November 7, 2024, involved a group of students assaulting an SS1 day student. The case gained widespread attention after a distressing video of the event circulated on social media, prompting a swift response from school authorities and the Ministry.

To deepen the inquiry, the Ministry has tasked the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) to work closely with security agencies. This step aims to conduct a thorough investigation that may explore possible connections to external groups, ensuring comprehensive accountability and reinforcing student safety measures.
