In a disturbing incident at Government College Ikot Ansa in Calabar, Cross River State, amateur footage has captured the unsettling moment when Senior Secondary Two (SS2) students allegedly orchestrated a brawl with Senior Secondary Three (SS3) students, purportedly involving hired gang members.

The video reveals a chaotic scene, depicting students engaged in physical altercations with sticks and what appears to be metal objects, exchanging punches in a tumultuous display. Some students remain bystanders, while others hurriedly seek safety amid the tumult.

Amidst the commotion, a voice, presumably that of a teacher, can be heard urgently exclaiming, "Emediong! He is bleeding..." The voice continues, delivering a clear message: "I'm marking your face, won't you go home?" This statement implies the abrupt interruption of academic activities for the day.

Government College Ikot Ansa is situated in the Ikot Ansa Community, in close proximity to the Zone 6 Command of the Nigerian Police Force and a short distance from the Federal Housing Police Division.

The incident raises concerns about the encroachment of gang-related activities into Nigerian primary and secondary schools. This unsettling trend is perceived as a gradual erosion of moral values within the domain of educational institutions that have historically stood as bastions of moral uprightness. As the community grapples with the aftermath of this incident, questions linger about the factors contributing to such behavior and the broader implications for the educational landscape.
