The University of Ilorin's administration is extremely concerned about the serious transportation issues that students at the university are currently experiencing as a result of the flyover that is being built in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, in the Tanke neighborhood.

In Ilorin on Tuesday, the institution's Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, gave a statement assuring the public that steps are being taken to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

"The management is currently in communication with the Kwara State Government regarding the necessity of expediting the completion of the flyover construction on the Tipper Garage axis of the University Road and the provision of more strategic interventions to lessen the burden on our students.

The statement continued, "The management is also looking into the possibility of reviving the virtual lecture option, especially for large classes, to reduce the requirement that a significant number of students be on the road during peak hours.

It further stated that arrangements had already been made to bring in big buses for the massive movement of students, but they could not be deployed yet due to the flyover construction at the Tanke area on University Road.

The management appealed to students to exercise patience while concerted efforts are being made to resolve the unfortunate transportation challenges.

“The welfare of our students remains the mainstay of the management, and this will not be compromised for any reason,” it added.
