The Joint Action Committee (JAC), comprising of SSANU, NASU, and NAAT at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, has said they are not moved by the school management's sudden announcement of the resumption of activities, Naijacrawl reports.

Speaking with our correspondent on Thursday, the Chairman of SSANU, Mr. Obama, disclosed that the union at the national level has just extended the ongoing strike by another one month after a meeting today in Abuja.

Obama noted that JAC members who have also been active on campus during the strike will also be withdrawn.

According to him, it has been resolved that the ongoing strike can only be considered suspended after the FGN/SSANU 2009 Agreement is renegotiated and a new salary structure for the university staff is approved.

The students' mail understands that his reaction is coming following the announcement of the resumption of activities by school management through the students’ mail.

The statement made available to Naijacrawl earlier today was signed by the school registrar, Kayode Ogunleye.

It reads in part, “Upon the directive of the Visitor to the University, the Management hereby informs all staff and students that the university will continue its academic activities for the first semester of the 2021/2022 Academic Session on Thursday, May 26, 2022.”

Meanwhile, efforts to speak with the chairman of ASUU proved abortive. But a staff member who pleaded on condition of anonymity said the sudden announcement of resumption by the management will only generate tension, adding that no union members will resume activities.

He said resumption is always done after a senate meeting and in the proper way.

“The unions, after a meeting with the Commissioner for Education yesterday, are yet to meet or make a congressional decision.”
