Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, is an award-winning singer from Nigeria and has received congratulations from the All Progressive Congress, or APC.

The ruling party praised Tems for being the first female artist from Nigeria to accomplish the feat in a tweet on Monday.

Grats on your Grammy win, @temsbaby (Temilade Openiyi), a first for a female Nigerian performer.

Tems' contribution to the popular song "Wait for U," which also features Future and Drake, earned her the title of "Best Melodic Rap Performance" in 2022.

For the 2023 Grammy Awards, Tems and Burna Boy were the only Nigerian musicians to receive nominations.

On the other hand, Burna Boy was unsuccessful in winning the Best Global Music Performance and Best Global Music Album awards.

The 65th Grammy Awards ceremony took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, on February 5, 2023.
