Following a goalless draw against Nigeria in Pretoria, Banyana Banyana, the reigning African champions, failed to secure Olympic qualification.
The Super Falcons had previously clinched a 1-0 victory in the first leg in Abuja.
Desiree Ellis expressed disappointment, stating, 'It's a significant setback not only for us but for the entire women's football community. This failure to qualify for the Olympics, reminiscent of our missed opportunities in 2020, will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact.'
With their Olympic dreams dashed, Banyana Banyana now turn their focus to defending their WAFCON title this upcoming summer.
